Acerca de Esta Oportunidad

Open Call Residency Suriname 2027 invites individual designers, architects and spatial practitioners from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to spend three months in Suriname (1 September – 1 December 2027) working at three distinct sites: Paramaribo, Moengo and Frederiksdorp. The residency is inspired by the Surinamese concept of "alakondre", encouraging exploration of cultural diversity, historical inequalities and social dynamics. Participants will collaborate with local makers selected by partner organisations, engaging in research, creation and dialogue that contributes to Suriname’s evolving cultural conversation. The Creative Industries Fund NL offers a stipend of €8,500 to cover travel, insurance, living expenses, compensation and materials; accommodation and workspace are provided by the local partners. Applicants must be established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce, and have at least four years of professional practice. Duos, collectives or cooperative ventures are not eligible, nor are applicants who will receive other specified grants in 2027. Applications are submitted online via the Fund’s platform by 21 October 2026, 16:00 CEST, and must include a residency plan, CV, portfolio, business register extract and a representative image. The selection process involves an advisory committee and partner organisations, with decisions announced within eight weeks of the deadline.
