Acerca de Esta Oportunidad

The Qatari‑based Arak Collection, one of the world’s largest contemporary African art collections, is launching a five‑day art‑writing workshop in Windhoek, Namibia, aimed at emerging writers across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. The workshop, scheduled for 5–9 February 2027, will be facilitated by art historian and writer Barnabas Ticha Muvhuti and will cover contemporary art discourse, hybrid writing forms, exhibition criticism, and contextual analysis. Participants will receive mentorship, networking opportunities, and the chance to contribute to the Collection’s publishing programme. The Arak Collection encourages applicants from Namibia, Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, with no formal education requirement; a passion for art writing and a willingness to engage critically with contemporary African art are the primary criteria. Applications and enquiries should be sent to [email protected], with the deadline set for 21 January 2027. The workshop is free of charge, and no stipend or travel support is offered. This initiative aligns with the Collection’s broader mission to support art writers, curators, and researchers through fellowships, workshops, and publications.
