Platform Dalí, powered by the Gala‑Salvador Dalí Foundation, is launching its inaugural Open Call for Residencies for 2027. Five artists of any nationality and discipline will be invited to undertake a year‑long research and creation residency at one of five leading Barcelona scientific institutions: the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC‑CNS), ICFO – Institute of Photonic Sciences, Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM‑CSIC), Institute for High Energy Physics (IFAE), and Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB). The residency is structured in three phases: an introductory visit (up to 3 days), an on‑site residency (up to 45 days) to engage with researchers and laboratories, and a research‑development and artistic production phase (approximately 10 months) that culminates in a new artwork. The resulting work will be exhibited by Platform Dalí no later than 2029.
Applicants must demonstrate at least eight years of professional artistic practice and a genuine interest in the intersection of art, science, and technology. The call is open to individuals or collectives of up to two members. Purely academic or theoretical research without a clear artistic dimension is not eligible.
Support provided includes a €7,500 artist fee, up to €25,000 production budget, curatorial support, travel, accommodation, subsistence, and travel insurance for artists based outside Barcelona, as well as access to the host institution’s facilities and research communities. The residency periods available are February–April 2027 and September–November 2027.
Applications are submitted online via the Platform Dalí portal (calls.platformdali.org) by 7 September 2026, 23:59 CEST. The application requires a biography or CV, a portfolio or website, a preferred partner institution, and a project proposal (max 700 words) in Catalan, Spanish, or English.
