Appel à candidatures « Ofrenda »

Fresno, United States
Arte Américas
Fecha Límite: August 1, 2026

Acerca de Esta Oportunidad

Arte Américas invites artists, collectives, schools, organizations, and community members to propose an ofrenda for its annual Día de Muertos exhibition. The 2026 exhibition, titled 'Cuatro Puntos,' is centered on the four directions: North, South, East, and West. Artists are encouraged to draw from their own cultural traditions, lived experiences, family histories, and research in developing proposals. The call does not favor a single interpretation of the four directions and welcomes diverse perspectives. Selected ofrendas will be exhibited at host venues throughout Fresno from October 1 to November 29, 2026, and will travel to Arte Américas for the annual Día de Muertos community festival (Cala Gala) on November 1, 2026. Artists build ofrendas on a fixed platform (30 in x 72 in x 15 in) provided by Arte Américas, with a maximum height of 80 inches. Ofrendas must be designed for 180-degree viewing and be structurally sound for transport. Selected proposals receive $1,000 per ofrenda ($500 artist honorarium + $500 materials stipend). Applications are submitted via Google Form with an artist statement (max 400 words) and at least one sketch or digital mockup. An informational session was held on July 22, 2026 at 6 pm at Arte Américas. The call is available in English and Spanish.
