Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture
Acerca de Esta Oportunidad
Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture runs a nine‑week, immersive summer residency for emerging artists from around the world. The 2027 program runs from June 5 to August 7, 2027 on the school’s 350‑acre rural campus in Skowhegan, Maine, USA. Each year about sixty participants are selected to live, work, and learn together with ten resident and visiting faculty artists. The program offers 24‑hour studio access, workshops, lectures, seminars, and a fully catered three‑meal‑a‑day dining program. Participants receive communal housing in lakeside cottages, with shared bathrooms and basic amenities. Travel grants are available for international applicants, and extensive scholarship funds cover tuition (USD 6,000) for most participants. Applicants must submit ten images or up to six minutes of video, a brief video narrative, and two references. The application fee is $25 (rising to $50 in the final two days) and is non‑refundable. Eligibility is open to artists of any nationality, age 21 or older, working in any discipline (painting, sculpture, photography, video, performance, etc.), and at an emerging career stage. Applicants must commit to being on‑campus for the full nine weeks and cannot take extended absences. The selection process is consensus‑based, need‑blind, and does not consider financial circumstances. The call is open from September 1 – October 16, 2026.
