The James Balog Earth Vision Awards (JBEVA) are biennial juried prizes organized by the Denver Art Museum (DAM) in Denver, Colorado, with funding from James Balog and other donors. Open to photographers worldwide, the competition seeks 10‑20 photographs that demonstrate a sustained commitment to environmental photography. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, submit a portfolio of 10‑20 still images, a statement of environmental significance, a project proposal, and a résumé. The awards offer a first prize of $40,000 (distributed as $30,000 initially and $10,000 later) and a finalist prize of $25,000 (distributed as $19,000 initially and $6,000 later). Winners receive a travel stipend, must present three prints to the museum’s collection, and are required to attend an award ceremony and give a public presentation. The call opens on September 1, 2026 and closes on October 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $25. The competition is open to individuals or collectives, but AI‑generated work is disqualified. The awards are presented at the Denver Art Museum in March 2027.
