The Granada UNESCO City of Literature, in collaboration with the University of Granada, invites writers from around the world to apply for the International Writers in Residence Programme 2026. The residency runs from 2 November to 1 December 2026, providing a 30‑night stay at the historic Corrala de Santiago. Selected writers receive round‑trip travel expenses to Granada Airport, single‑room full‑board accommodation, and access to workshops, literary events, and networking opportunities with local authors. Applicants must have published at least two individually authored books (self‑published works are excluded) and submit a project synopsis, a 1,500‑3,000‑word excerpt, and letters of recommendation. The programme is open to writers of any nationality, language, and genre, including novels, essays, poetry, drama, and hybrid forms. Travel and health insurance are the responsibility of the resident. Applications are due by 6 September 2026, with results announced on 1 October 2026. This annual call aims to foster international literary exchange and promote Granada as a vibrant cultural destination.
