Beca «Creative Catalyst» 2027

The Creative Catalyst Fellowship, organized by the AAPI Civic Engagement Fund, invites individual artists based in the United States who are 18 years of age or older to create work that engages the public on critical issues facing Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. The 2027 cohort will receive $30,000 each to produce a project aligned with the theme of Belonging—a sense of community, home, agency, and the right for AAPI communities to flourish. The fellowship is a year‑long program that runs from January to December 2027. Fellows begin with a virtual orientation, attend a two‑day in‑person retreat on February 16‑18, 2027 (with travel and accommodation covered), and participate in regular virtual check‑ins. They are required to submit a narrative report and complete their artwork by August 15, 2027, with promotion of the finished work continuing through December. In addition to the stipend, the Fund provides a communications consultant, digital advertising, introductions to AAPI organizations, support for exhibition placement, and production of replicas such as posters and books. Applications are free and must be submitted via a Google Form by October 15, 2026, 11:59 pm PT. Optional informational webinars are scheduled for September 1 and September 4, 2026. The fellowship is open to U.S. artists only; organizations and international applicants are ineligible, though U.S. citizenship is not required. The program is recurring annually, with the next edition slated for 2028.
