Acerca de Esta Oportunidad

Soundweavings 2027 is an intercultural music residency hosted by the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity in Banff, Alberta, Canada. Running from March 1 to March 20, 2027 (three weeks), the program provides musicians and ensembles – both individual and collaborative – with dedicated studio space, 24‑hour studio access, a private bedroom in shared housing, a meal‑plan credit, and a range of professional resources including workshops, faculty‑led seminars, recording sessions with audio engineers, and performance opportunities. Participants receive mentorship from internationally recognised faculty such as Haruka Fujii, Nguyễn Thanh Thủy, Daniel Wilfred, Sunny (Yoon Sun) Kim, Peter Knight, Mazz Swift, Pura Fé and Maeve Gilchrist. The residency is open to national and international applicants aged 18+, at an early‑ or mid‑career stage, who demonstrate advanced artistic accomplishment in traditional global music or Western classical practice. A pre‑determined project is not required, but applicants must be able to attend the full program dates. The total program fee is CAD 8 722.35, reduced by scholarships (up to CAD 5 960.59) to a net cost of CAD 2 761.76 after scholarship. An application fee of CAD 65 (or CAD 35 for Indigenous applicants) is required. The residency also offers a scholarship covering tuition and 25 % of meal and accommodation costs, with additional Indigenous scholarships covering 100 % of those expenses. Visa support information is provided for international participants. The call is part of an annual series, with the next edition opening in 2027.
