Convocatoria para artistas: Arte funcional en el Museo de Sandy Spring
Sandy Spring Museum
Acerca de Esta Oportunidad
Sandy Spring Museum is building a growing collection of permanent functional artworks that will shape the visitor experience across its campus for years to come. The museum seeks artists residing in Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia (DMV) to submit Phase I proposals for functional art—seating, gathering spaces, bike racks, interpretive elements, trail features, or other works that combine artistic expression with everyday use. Phase I requires a brief application (resume, artist statement, portfolio, connection to the region, and a 250‑word preliminary idea) and is due September 18, 2026. Selected artists will advance to Phase II, where they will develop a site‑specific proposal and receive a $1,000 honorarium. Phase II proposals include detailed drawings, site plans, materials, and a budget; the museum anticipates project budgets of $15,000–$25,000. The museum will provide access to its archives, staff expertise, and historical resources to inform designs. The final artworks must be safe, durable, and permanently installed with minimal maintenance. The call is open to individuals or groups and encourages underrepresented artists.
