Creative Australia is seeking artistic proposals for the Australia Pavilion at the 62nd International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2028. The call is open to individual artists or groups, provided the team includes at least one artist and one curator (the same person cannot hold both roles). All members of the Artistic Team must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and practising visual‑arts professionals. Proposals are assessed in two stages: Stage One (applications open 24 June 2026, close 4 August 2026) and Stage Two (open 9 September 2026, close 2 October 2026). Successful applicants will receive a Venice Artist Fellowship of AUD 100,000 (for the artist) and a Curator Fellowship of AUD 50,000, together with travel and accommodation support for Venice, a production budget covering freight, equipment, fabrication, installation, PR and marketing, and the opportunity to exhibit the commissioned work in the Australia Pavilion from May to November 2028. Applications are submitted via Creative Australia’s Fluxx system and must include mandatory CVs, indicative visuals, previous work documentation and, where applicable, letters of support. The call emphasizes high artistic quality, viability, alignment with contemporary discourse, sustainability, and adherence to First Nations cultural protocols.
