The Visual Arts Centre of Clarington (VAC) in Bowmanville, Ontario, is offering a 22‑week assistant curator position from 26 October 2026 to 26 March 2027. The role, paid at $19.35 per hour for 37.5 hours per week, supports the VAC’s curator in developing and coordinating the 2026‑2027 exhibition programme, creating curatorial plans for community exhibitions, managing installation logistics, and engaging visitors during public hours. Responsibilities also include researching exhibition content, producing marketing materials, training volunteers and interns, and evaluating completed exhibitions.
Applicants must hold a post‑secondary qualification in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Visual Arts, Visual Studies or a related field, possess strong communication, organisational and research skills, and be eligible for the Young Canada Works – Building Careers in Heritage programme. Eligibility also requires Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or refugee status, legal entitlement to work in Canada, age 16‑30 at the start of the position, and commitment to the full 22‑week term.
