Internationale Übersetzung – Canada Council for the Arts

International Translation is a funding opportunity under the Arts Across Canada and Abroad program of the Canada Council for the Arts. It supports the translation of Canadian‑authored literary or dramatic works into foreign languages, as well as related promotional activities, to increase the international profile of Canadian creators. Eligible applicants include artistic groups, First Nations, Inuit or Métis collectives, artistic organisations, supporting organisations, not‑for‑profit organisations, and foreign publishers or theatres; Canadian publishers are excluded. Funding can cover up to 50 % of a literary translator’s fee (or 100 % for dramatic works) and up to $2,000 for promotional expenses, with a maximum of $20,000 per translation and a total ceiling of $44,000 per calendar year. Applications are assessed on artistic rationale, project potential, and capacity of both applicant and translator. The next deadline is 2 September 2026, with additional rounds in January and April each year. No application fee is required.
