Summit Library Artist-in-Residence 2027
Über Diese Gelegenheit
The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, in partnership with the Summit Free Public Library, has opened applications for a new Artist‑in‑Residence program in Summit, New Jersey. The year‑long initiative will select three visual artists to each undertake a four‑month residency in 2027, working from a dedicated studio space inside the Summit Free Public Library. Residents are expected to develop their practice while engaging the public through workshops, open studio hours, and community‑focused projects. The program welcomes visual artists of all disciplines, with a preference for those working in photography, book illustration, natural materials, or garden and environmental themes, and requires comfort with public‑facing work. Each resident receives a $3,000 stipend paid in four installments tied to contract signing, workshop completion, exhibition installation, and program conclusion. Applications are submitted via an online form and must be received by 11:59 PM on Monday, 28 September 2026; selections will be announced by 30 October 2026. Applicants should prepare work samples and a statement outlining how they would use the studio space and engage the Summit community. Questions can be directed to Rachel Aponte, Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.
