The Colburn School, a leading performing‑arts institution in downtown Los Angeles, is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Assistant Vice President of Performance & Rentals Marketing. The AVP will develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to drive ticket sales, attendance, and earned revenue across more than 350 performances annually and an expanding portfolio of venues. Responsibilities include setting ambitious performance revenue goals, managing integrated marketing campaigns across digital, email, web, social media, print, and other channels, and overseeing the performance marketing budget. The role also involves audience development, cultivating new audiences, and deepening engagement with core patrons and emerging audiences. In partnership with the Events and Rental Director, the AVP will grow rental activity and position Colburn’s venues as premier destinations for performances, celebrations, conferences, and special events. The position will play a key leadership role in preparing for the 2027 opening of Colburn’s new Frank Gehry‑designed concert hall and dance center, developing launch marketing strategies, and supporting the expanded campus.
Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in performance marketing for a performing‑arts presenter, orchestra, opera company, or similar organization, including at least three years at the director level or equivalent. They should possess strong knowledge of classical music, jazz, and dance, experience with dynamic pricing, audience segmentation, loyalty programs, and digital marketing, and a proven track record of achieving annual ticket revenue goals of $1 million or more. Experience supervising a box office team or working closely with box office operations is required.
The position offers an annual salary range of $160,000 to $220,000, comprehensive benefits, and an on‑site location at Colburn’s campus in downtown Los Angeles.
