Über Diese Gelegenheit

The SÍM Residency, run by the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists (SÍM), offers an international, self‑funded artist‑in‑residence programme in downtown Reykjavík. Residents live and work at Seljavegur 32, sharing private and communal studios, a workshop space and a project exhibition area. The programme supports stays of one to three months and includes orientation, artist talks, group exhibitions, mentorship, promotion on the residency’s website and social media, and a letter of invitation for visa and funding purposes. A non‑refundable programme fee of 50,000 ISK covers accommodation, studio facilities, basic utilities, cleaning supplies, a SÍM membership card and other communal resources. Additional monthly accommodation fees apply depending on the chosen studio. The residency is open year‑round with applications reviewed weekly; the current call has a deadline of 31 August 2026 for stays in 2027. Applicants must hold at least a BA (or be self‑taught), be able to work in English, and cannot have children or disabilities due to accessibility constraints. The residency welcomes creators from visual arts, design, architecture, music, dance, performance, writing, curating and related fields.
