Royal Institute of Oil Painters – Offene Ausstellung 2026

The Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI), founded in 1882, runs its annual open exhibition each November/December at the Mall Galleries in London. For 2026 the call is open to any artist aged 18 or over, from any country, who works in oil paint. Submissions are accepted online via the Open Exhibition Submission System (OESS) between 8 June and 9 October 2026. Each work must have been completed within the last three years, not previously shown at Mall Galleries, and must be for sale. Artists may submit up to six works (maximum three may be selected), with size limits of 240 cm on the longest side and a total combined length of 244 cm. A non‑refundable entry fee of £22 per work (or £14.50 for artists 35 or under) applies.

Selected works will be exhibited at the Mall Galleries from 26 November to 12 December 2026, featured in the gallery’s online exhibition, and eligible for a range of prizes totalling over £10,000, including the £4,000 Roger Remington Award and several material awards from Winsor & Newton, Daler‑Rowney, and others. Artists will also receive an invitation to the Private View, the opportunity to sell their work, and the possibility of election to ROI membership. The exhibition provides significant exposure and networking opportunities within the historic ROI community.

The call is recurring (annual) and not a rolling submission. No housing or travel support is offered. All details, including submission guidelines and the prize list, are available on the ROI’s official website.
