The Public Art Integration - New Firehouse - Exterior Facade open call invites professional artists, sculptors, graphic and industrial designers, architects, landscape architects, and multidisciplinary creative teams to submit qualifications for consideration for a permanent public artwork commission. The selected artist or team will collaborate with municipal staff, stakeholder committees, and project architects to design and integrate the artwork into the firehouse’s exterior envelope. The total project budget is $200,000, and three semi‑finalists will receive a $1,000 stipend to develop site‑specific concept proposals. After a virtual presentation phase, one final artist or team will be awarded the commission to finalize design, fabrication, and installation, scheduled for summer 2028. Applicants must be living and working in the United States, have completed an outdoor public sculpture with a budget over $15,000, and demonstrate experience with durable public artwork suitable for Iowa’s climate. Applications are free and must be submitted online by November 4, 2026, 5:00 pm Central time.
