Fundación Kahlo for Mexican Art and Culture, a New York‑based nonprofit, has launched the Kahlo Art Prize, a biennial award aimed at supporting emerging Mexican contemporary artists. The inaugural prize includes a USD 50,000 stipend and exhibition opportunities at Museo Casa Kahlo in Mexico City as well as in New York. The award is sponsored by Phillips Auction House. An open‑call process will be used to select the winner, with submissions opening in November 2026 and the first laureate announced on 6 July 2027, coinciding with Frida Kahlo’s 120th birthday. Eligibility is limited to emerging Mexican artists (Mexican nationals or residents). No application fee is required.
