The PhD in Artistic Practice is a collaborative, transdisciplinary doctoral program offered by NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in partnership with HDK‑Valand Academy of Art and Design at the University of Gothenburg. It is designed for permanently employed NABA staff members and focuses on practice‑based research that engages with social, political and cultural issues. The program runs for five to six years on a part‑time basis, integrating doctoral study with the applicant’s existing work at NABA. Participants receive seminars, lectures, courses, research activities and are expected to contribute to workshops, teaching, conferences, exhibitions and screenings. The application cycle for the 2026/27 academic year opened on 23 July 2026 and closed on 7 September 2026 at 12:00 CEST. Successful candidates will be admitted through the University of Gothenburg’s doctoral admission process.

Eligibility: permanently employed NABA staff with a second‑cycle degree (MA or equivalent). Applicants must submit a research proposal, statement, time plan, line‑manager approval, CV, transcripts, and other supporting documents via an online form.
