DAAD-Programm „Künstler in Berlin“ 2028 (vollständig finanziert)
DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program
Über Diese Gelegenheit

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) runs the Artists-in-Berlin Program, a highly regarded residency that invites outstanding international artists in film, literature, music & sound to Berlin for 6 to 12 months. The program is fully funded: artists receive a monthly stipend that covers living expenses and rent, a fully equipped apartment, travel costs for the artist and accompanying family members, health insurance, and optional German language instruction. Applications for the 2028 cycle open in November 2026, with deadlines in December 2026 for literature, music & sound (12‑month residencies) and film (6‑month residency). Visual arts candidates are nominated by a specialist jury and cannot apply directly. Eligibility requires that applicants be international, have no age or academic background limits, and demonstrate an outstanding body of work. German nationals are excluded unless they have lived abroad for at least six years, and artists primarily based in Germany are excluded unless they have moved there within the last 15 months. The program emphasizes diversity, gender equality, and integration into Berlin’s cultural scene, offering artists the time and space to focus on their creative practice without production duties.
