„Better Go South“ Rooftop-Residenz – Stuttgart

Better Go South, a contemporary art gallery with spaces in Berlin and Stuttgart, runs the Rooftop Residency in Stuttgart. The program offers artists a 20 m² fully equipped tiny house on the gallery’s rooftop, a private atelier of 20–30 m², and access to a 200 m² exhibition space. Residencies last 2–3 months and are scheduled for two slots in 2027 (January–April and June–September), each culminating in a solo exhibition at the gallery. Selected artists receive up to €1,000 toward materials, production and exhibition costs, as well as networking, promotion and strategic support from the gallery’s team and its extensive collector network. The residency is open to international (non‑German) artists who submit a single PDF containing an artistic concept, artist statement, portrait, recent works, exhibition list and contact details. Applications are reviewed by the hosts and a jury of industry professionals. The deadline for the 2027 edition is 1 November 2026, 23:59 CET. Successful applicants will be notified by the end of November and will be expected to contribute a pre‑agreed artwork to the Preuss Collection and share 50 % of gallery sales.
