Athenaeum – Einzel- oder Gruppenausstellung 2025–2026

The Athenaeum Gallery, located in Alexandria, Virginia and operated by the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Association, invites proposals for solo or group exhibitions for the 2025‑2026 season. The call is open to visual artists (and curators) whose practice is based in the DC, Maryland, or Virginia region. Applicants may submit a solo show proposal or, as a group of artists, a group show proposal; curators may also propose shows featuring regional artists. All works must be wall‑mounted, less than 9 inches deep, and ready to hang (or, for sculpture, under 30 lb). The gallery retains a 40 % commission on sales, issuing the remaining 60 % to the artist within thirty days of the show’s close. Applications are accepted through a $40 entry fee and must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. MDT on September 30, 2026. The call is part of the Athenaeum’s rolling review program, and selected shows will be exhibited in the gallery’s public space, with insurance coverage for the full retail price of each work during the exhibition.

Artists must live or work in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia. Curators may be from any location but must propose work by regional artists.
