A.I.R. Gallery’s National Artists Program, founded in 1981, expands the gallery’s feminist mission beyond New York City by creating a three‑year network of women and non‑binary artists across the United States. Applicants must live in the U.S. but outside of New York City, must not have previously participated in the program, and must be willing to commit to the three‑year term (September 2026 – August 2029). The call is open without any application fee. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Selected artists become National Artists, gaining representation on the A.I.R. website, inclusion in an annual curated group exhibition at A.I.R. Gallery, eligibility to apply without fee to other A.I.R. open calls (including the Biennial and Currents), and opportunities to participate in virtual studio visits and other artist‑led programming. Members also receive community support, promotion on A.I.R.’s social media, and, on a case‑by‑case basis, access to fiscal sponsorship for grant‑eligible projects. Membership dues are $1,440 per year, payable in two $720 installments (due September 1 and January 1 each year). Exhibition expenses for the annual show are shared among participants. Applications are submitted via Submittable and must include seven image files (72 ppi JPG, ≤5 MB each) and a PDF resume and artist statement, along with optional video documentation.
