The Foundation of ART NYC, presenter of an Official Collateral Event of the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, announces the Venice Independent Creative & Research Residency 2026. This fully independent, self‑directed residency offers two single‑resident sessions (Session 1: August 17 – September 6, 2026; Session 2: September 7 – September 27, 2026) in a private furnished bedroom located in the historic centre of Venice, within walking distance of the Rialto Bridge and major cultural institutions. Residents receive exclusive use of the accommodation, a dedicated workspace, a fully equipped kitchen, high‑speed Wi‑Fi, washing machine and all utilities included. The program is open to visual artists, art critics, art historians, independent researchers, graduate students, PhD candidates and cultural practitioners of any nationality, age, gender or race. Applicants must submit a single PDF containing CV, a 20‑page portfolio and a 1,000‑word project proposal. The selection criteria focus on artistic or academic quality, originality, feasibility and relevance to the residency. A non‑refundable residency fee of €2,000 per resident is payable upon acceptance; travel, meals and personal expenses are not covered. The residency aims to provide uninterrupted time and space for research‑based practices such as writing, reading, drawing and digital work.
