The Public Art Building Communities (PABC) grant program, administered by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH), provides funding for individual artists and organizations to design, fabricate, and install new permanent or temporary works of public art that engage and connect with communities. Eligible works include sculptures, murals, artistic streetscapes, digital installations, landscape projects, custom benches, and more, provided they are installed in publicly accessible outdoor locations, use sustainable low‑maintenance materials, and require minimal routine upkeep. The FY27 grant cycle offers multiple awards with funding up to $75,000 for individuals, up to $125,000 for organizations, and up to $150,000 for Business Improvement Districts (BIDs). Applicants must be experienced artists or arts‑related professionals over 18, be DC residents for at least one year, hold a Citywide Clean Hands certification, and be in good standing with CAH. Applications are submitted through CAH’s Submittable portal by Monday, July 27, 2026, 5 pm ET. The grant is funded by the District’s annual arts budget and may be supplemented by NEA support.
