Take One Action
Sobre Esta Oportunidade
Take One Action is a public‑art campaign organized by the non‑profit Art at a Time Like This. Artists are asked to create a powerful image together with a clear, actionable step that everyday people can take to protect democracy in the United States. The call is juried by co‑founders Anne Verhallen and Barbara Pollack and assistant curator Shameekia Shantel Johnson. Two selected artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium each and will have their work displayed on mobile trucks, wheat‑paste posters, and other public‑space interventions across New York City from September 1 to October 5, 2026, alongside established artists such as Marilyn Minter, Robert Longo, Sasha Stiles, and Shaun Leonardo. All submissions will also be featured in an online exhibition that serves as a lasting repository of ideas. The project aims to turn artistic practice into collective civic resistance and to inspire concrete democratic action. Applications are free and open to visual artists residing in the United States. The deadline for submissions is August 21, 2026.
