Sobre Esta Oportunidade

Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is inviting proposals for a public art commission to create hanging indoor sculptural installations in the new Beechville Lakeside Timberlea (BLT) Community Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The call specifically prioritises artists with established ties to one or more of the 52+ historic African Nova Scotian communities, while also encouraging submissions from artists of African descent across the broader community. The project budget totals $200,000 CAD plus HST, covering artist fees (including optional mentee fees), administration, development, fabrication, installation, insurance, travel and accommodation, and technical consultation. Applicants are encouraged (but not required) to partner with an emerging artist as a mentee, fostering professional development and community building. The deadline for submissions is 16 August 2026 at 11:59 p.m. AST. Interested artists can download the full call for proposals PDF and submit their applications through HRM’s public art portal. For questions, contact Lindsay Cory, Community Developer, Public Art, at 902‑456‑8348 or lindsay.cory@halifax.ca.
