Virtual Reality Storytelling Fundamentals 2027 is a two‑week Digital Arts Intensive hosted by the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity in Banff, Alberta. The program is designed for multidisciplinary artists and creative practitioners who wish to explore immersive narrative design in virtual reality. Over the course of the intensive, participants engage in seminars, hands‑on labs, and collaborative projects that cover spatial storytelling, 360° directing, spatial audio, and end‑to‑end VR production using 360° camera technologies. No prior VR experience is required; applicants are expected to have an active creative practice and be 18 years of age or older. The residency runs from February 8 to February 20 2027, with a total fee of CAD 5,730.90 before scholarships. Banff Centre scholarships cover tuition and a portion of accommodation and meals, reducing the out‑of‑pocket cost to approximately CAD 1,841.18. An application fee of CAD 65 (CAD 35 for Indigenous applicants) is required. Participants receive a private bedroom in shared housing, meals (partial credit), access to digital arts studios, library resources, fitness facilities, and opportunities to showcase their work. The program culminates in a public presentation of prototype VR experiences.
