Residenza OUT 2026

The OUT Residency (Edition I: Our Story First) is an intensive, output‑driven in‑person production residency in Lagos, Nigeria, organized by the Kokopelli Art Foundation (the programmatic arm of Kokopelli Gallery). Running from 25 August to 7 September 2026, the residency brings together four artists of African origin or heritage for focused production, critical exchange, mentorship, and engagement with Lagos’s cultural landscape. Participants will engage in story excavation workshops, oral‑tradition sessions, studio practice, weekly critiques, and a unique Flash Apprenticeship with an established artist. The programme provides fully funded accommodation, daily meals, transportation within Lagos, a materials allowance, dedicated studio time, documentation of work, and inclusion in a closing group exhibition at Kokopelli Gallery. No application fee is required. Applicants must submit a portfolio, artist statement, residency proposal, responses to two questions, and a professional reference. The call is open to artists of any age, medium, or career stage who have at least two years of sustained practice and can be physically present for the residency dates and the exhibition events on 11‑12 September 2026.
