The M16 Artspace Drawing Prize 2026, proudly supported by The Tall Foundation, invites submissions in traditional drawing media and techniques, as well as innovative, experimental formats that extend and challenge understandings of what constitutes drawing in contemporary art practices. As a staple in the M16 Artspace exhibition calendar since 2006, this prestigious prize celebrates the breadth and diversity of contemporary drawing practice, attracting hundreds of entries from across Australia.

Judging Panel: Michelle Cawthorn (Dharawal/Sydney based artist), Dean Cross (Worimi man, works across installation, sculpture and painting), and Terence Maloon OAM (former Senior Curator of Special Exhibitions at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Director of Drill Hall Gallery).

Prizes (Total pool over $15,000 AUD):

• Main Prize (supported by The Tall Foundation): $10,000
• Highly Commended (supported by Delta Cleaning): $1,000
• First Nations Artist Award (supported by M16 Artspace): $2,000
• Megalo Print Studio Local Artist Award (supported by Megalo Print Studio): 2-week studio residency, 12 month membership and 5 hours one-on-one tuition
• Local Artist Award (supported by Cox Architecture): $500 art materials voucher
• People's Choice Award (supported by The Framing Store): $500 framing voucher
• Young Drawers Prize Junior (supported by Capital Chemist): $200 Art Supplies Voucher
• Young Drawers Prize Senior: $300 Art Supplies Voucher
• Young Drawers Digital Awards Junior: $200 Art Material Voucher
• Young Drawers Digital Awards Senior: $300 Art Material Voucher

Eligibility: All works must be unframed and unmounted. All works must have been completed between 2024 and 2026. All artworks must be available to be displayed in the M16 Artspace 2026 Drawing Prize Exhibition between 11am and 5pm from 15 to 17 December 2026.

Entry fee: A non-refundable entry fee applies. Entry is free for First Nations artists (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander) and artists who hold a current Pension or Concession Card. M16 Artspace members receive a 20% discount on entry fees.
