The Night as Commons and the Dark Side of Light residency is a six‑week program (1 October – 10 November 2026) located in Vármező / Câmpu Cetății, Transylvania, Romania. It invites visual, media, sound, performance, literary artists, architects, designers, researchers and cultural professionals to explore darkness, photoperiodicity and light pollution through experimental, interdisciplinary practice. Residents receive accommodation in private studio‑apartments, a daily allowance of €30, travel allowances (€400 for trips under 5 000 km, €800 for longer distances), various top‑ups (OCT/OR, visa, family), accessibility support, and access to a 7 200 m² research environment equipped with studios, workshops, scientific instruments and mentorship from experts in physics, biology and curatorial research. Applications are free and must be submitted as a single PDF (bio, portfolio, proposal, access needs, contact) to hyphaetc@gmail.com by 1 August 2026. Eligible applicants must be legally based in a Creative Europe country (including OCTs/ORs) and can be emerging or established artists or cultural professionals.
