Crosstown Arts: Residenzprogramme 2027

Crosstown Arts, a nonprofit arts organization in Memphis, Tennessee, runs a multidisciplinary residency program for the 2027 season. The program welcomes visiting and Memphis‑based artists and curators working in visual arts, music, film/media, writing, and related practices. Residents receive a private studio workspace, with options for live‑work housing that includes a furnished private bedroom/bathroom or a studio house. Accessible housing is available, and the residency is embedded in a larger arts complex that provides a 6,000‑sq‑ft gallery, a music venue, a 419‑seat black‑box theater, a maker space, and a bar. Participants also gain membership to the on‑site shared art‑making workspace, which offers a wood shop, CNC/laser cutters, a Mac‑based computer lab, large‑format printing, silkscreen facilities, a recording studio, and video/audio editing bays. Residents are asked to engage in public activities such as informal artist talks and open‑studio events. Applications are open from May 25 to July 31 2026 via Slideroom, with separate links for Music, Writing, Visual Arts, and Film/Media disciplines. The program is free; participants only cover a refundable $200 deposit, their own studio materials, and travel costs. Eligibility is open to artists worldwide aged 18 or older, except alumni of the program. No specific project proposal is required. Three‑month sessions run Feb 11 – May 11 and Sep 9 – Dec 7, with a two‑month summer session Jun 3 – Aug 3. Selections are made by a rotating panel, and residencies are awarded in the fall.
