Bulgarien | Festival für Autoren-Theater 2026

The seventh edition of the Festival of Authorial Theatre (FAT) will take place from 27 to 29 November 2026 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Organized by SPAM Studios, the festival seeks solo performances that respond to the theme RESISTANCE, encouraging artists to explore personal, social or political realities through a range of author‑driven practices, including devised, documentary, dance, multimedia and interdisciplinary formats. Selected productions will be showcased during the three‑day event at Toplocentrala – Regional Centre for Contemporary Arts, receiving technical support, production facilities, accommodation for up to three team members (two nights with breakfast), lunch, and the opportunity to participate in moderated post‑show discussions with scholars and an international jury. Artists will also benefit from networking with curators, selectors and other professionals, and may be awarded the FAT monetary prize or invitations to partner festivals. Travel costs to and from Sofia are the responsibility of the participants. Applications are open until 15 August 2026 and are free of charge. The call is open to artists and theatre companies from Bulgaria and abroad, with no age or nationality restrictions.
