ACENTRICSPACE AiR

ACENTRICSPACE Artist in Residence is an artist‑run gallery and residency located in the historic water town of Zhujiajiao, Shanghai. The program is open to all contemporary artists throughout the year, with stays of 1, 2 or 3 months. Residents receive a private bedroom, a semi‑shared studio equipped with easels, lighting, cameras, an electric kiln and other tools, as well as access to a shared kitchen, laundry facilities, a rooftop garden and exhibition spaces. At the end of each residency, ACENTRICSPACE curates a group exhibition for 1‑2 month stays and a solo exhibition for 3‑month stays, though participation is optional. The residency fee covers studio, accommodation and exhibition costs: 7,700 CNY for one month, 15,000 CNY for two months, and 22,000 CNY for three months. No additional application fee is required, but artists must cover their own travel, food and material expenses and arrange their own visa (the space provides an invitation letter). Applicants must be capable of working and living independently and handle production, installation and de‑installation themselves. The program encourages artists to seek external scholarships or grants, and provides documentation to support such applications.
